Tina Fey gets series order at NBC

2011 NBC Upfront

My faith in NBC has been restored today, after it was announced that the network has ordered a new Tina Fey series. This single-camera comedy will focus on the life of a woman starting a new life in New York city after she leaves a doomsday cult. Tina will produce alongside 30 Rock executive producer Robert Carlock, which reassures me that this show is going to be amazing. In the words of Liz Lemon, I’m high-fiving a million angels.

  1. I missed this one before. That’s an interesting premise for a show, and Tina Fey has done some very good work. I thought it would be really interesting if the new show was some genre other than comedy — you know, seeing her try out a project in a totally different category. But I see that it is a comedy after all, and that’s fine; it’s what she’s good at.

I have to confess my ignorance: What’s a single-camera comedy?

    • Tina is great, I’m looking forward to it! A single-camera comedy is what you’re used to seeing in most shows, it’s usually shot in real locations with multiple angles to work with and typically, there’s no laugh track. Good examples are New Girl, The Office and Scrubs.
